Career Day the Career Edge Way - Start Your New Career Sept. 29

On Thursday, September 29th from 1-4 at the Career Edge office located at 81 Dundas St, Trenton, Career Edge will host their new Career Day.
“The purpose of Career Day is to help people get connected to those jobs they don’t see. Statistically only 18% of jobs are posted. The other 72% go under the radar. There are many employers out there seeking the right person. That’s where Career Day comes in. Our goal is to offer a place where the community can come in, speak with our Employment Counsellors, check out our services and most importantly, be pre-interviewed for our current postings,” says Lynn Kelly, Job Developer for Career Edge.
On any given day Career Edge has around 40 postings on their new website www.careeredge.on.ca. These jobs include manufacturing, administrative assistant, welders, IT, DZ drivers and CAD Technologists. “When you come in on Career Day (September 29th) you will get a look at our current postings and have the opportunity to apply. Each position will have its qualifications listed so it will take the guess work out of where to apply. The primary qualifications for our employers are Grade 12, driver’s license, clear criminal record and the ability to work all shifts,” says Kelly.
For anyone seeking more information regarding the Career Day they are welcome to call the office at 613-392-9157, stop in at the office or visit them at www.careeredge.on.ca.

Job Growth Continues Across Canada

Job Growth Continues Across Canada
January 7th, 2011, Northumberland-Quinte West- Canada’s unemployment rate is at a record low 7.6 per cent, the lowest rate since January 2009, while 22, 000 new jobs have been created across Canada in December 2010, as reported today by Statistics Canada. Full-time jobs in the private sector are the sole contribution to the increase in Canada’s job growth, with particularly strong gains made in the manufacturing sector.
“Figures announced today are the latest demonstration that Canada’s Economic Action Plan is working. While recovery remains fragile, your government will continue to focus on job growth and the economy in the New Year,” said Rick Norlock, MP. “Working together we will continue to implement a job-creating, low-tax plan. Canada’s EAP will continue to bring results, while the Coalition opposition would rather hike taxes on job creators- halting our recovery and killing nearly 400, 000 jobs.”
Since July 2009 over 460, 000 new jobs have been created across Canada. This means that our economy has grown for the past five straight quarters and has recovered more jobs than were lost during the global recession. As expressed in the National Post, “it should perhaps come as no surprise that an Abacus Data poll this week found Canadians associate the Conservatives with economic recovery and low taxes and the Liberals with weak leadership and internal divisions.”

How Would You Be Benefit From A Mortgage Broker?

Are you undecided for using the services of a mortgage broker or doubtful as what a mortgage broker can do? The aim of this article is to clarify the benefits and the advantages, received for the services provided by a mortgage broker Canada .

 What is a mortgage broker?

A mortgage broker is a representative of all the lending institutes. Their function is similar to an insurance broker. The representative of the bank is employed by the bank and he is aware about every mortgage product which Canada mortgages bank offer. Thus when a person goes to a bank for a mortgage than the representative will analyze his situation and choose the best product for his needs. The mortgage broker acts as an agent fro all the credit unions, Canadian banks, finance companies, trust companies and the private lenders.

In Ontario, a mortgage broker are usually educated experts who are licensed by the financial services commission of Ontario(FSCO), this is one of the government agencies which monitors the business practices of the mortgage brokers and the same is the case with a Vancouver mortgage broker .

How will you benefit from a mortgage broker?

Saves time: Many people try to shop by travelling to some 5-6 major retail banks which is really time-consuming. A mortgage broker will meet your needs and they will shop for the mortgage and will save a lot of your valuable time.

Credit score: One of the most important considerations for Canadians is the credit score. Each time a person goes to a bank and apply for a mortgage, he will make a credit inquiry and too many inquires will affect the credit score negatively thus a mortgage broker is needed because it request only one credit inquiry.

Save money: Many people are under false supposition that it’s expensive to use a mortgage broker. But the matter of the fact is that most of the brokers don’t charge heavy fees because they are paid by the various banking firms for bringing them in to the business.

Best rates: With the help of a mortgage broker, one can get the best Canadian mortgage rates , independent agents rely on repeat business thus they always provide the best rate to their clients.

Fast approvals: A mortgage broker will get the mortgage approved within just 24 hours, at the best interest rates. Real estate Canada market is very competitive and thus the approvals are done faster, but only a mortgage broker can help.

Canada's Economic Action Plan

Canada’s Economic Action Plan – Creating Jobs and Economic Growth

Ottawa, October 27th 2010- Canada’s Auditor General, Sheila Fraser, has released her latest report in Ottawa. The first chapter of her report examines the design and implementation of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“The Auditor General’s report is welcome positive news on Canada’s Economic Action Plan and confirms your government’s commitment to recovery,” said Rick Norlock, MP. “In 2010 only, more than $11 000 000 has been brought back to Northumberland and Quinte West, improving our communities and infrastructure while boosting the local economy. This excludes heavy investments to be made at CFB Trenton that will further stimulate economic growth. Nearly 310 000 jobs have been created since last year, Canada’s Economic Action Plan is working.”

Canada’s Economic Action Plan was designed and delivered by our government to protect hard working Canadian families and workers from the worst global recession since the Second World War. To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of stimulus spending no time was wasted to fund and begin projects, this has ensured job and economic growth vital to our recovery.

Your Government will not see a repeat of the Liberal sponsorship scandal, where millions of dollars were funnelled into Liberal-friendly firms without consideration of value for taxpayer dollar. The Auditor General has confirmed that your Government has been successful, reporting that the Government acted quickly and effectively in the design and implementation of the Economic Action Plan.

This report is positive feedback on the Government’s performance, however it is important to remember that the economy remains fragile and that recovery is tenuous. Many families in Canada continue to struggle to make ends meet. Your Government will continue to focus on creating jobs and supporting Canadian families.

HST by Len Crispino in the Toronto Star

Since when have Ontarians not wanted to invest in a brighter future for their children? Who among us is satisfied with the status quo?

Figures estimating the impact of sales tax harmonization have reignited the debate about its merits. Estimates range from no impact to a decline in taxes for low income earners; a few hundred dollars or perhaps no impact at all for middle income earners; and over a thousand dollars for high income earners. Over the long term these impacts will lessen as a result of lower prices, higher wages and a stronger economy.

Naturally, no one wants to pay more taxes. Naturally, no one likes taxes at all. But is it safe to say that everyone values jobs? That everyone wants to see a booming economy versus a stagnating one? Wouldn’t we rather see businesses opening versus closing?

Sunshine, Snow and Syrup predicted for March Break at Batawa Ski Hill

Batawa/ With days getting longer, temperatures warming and March Break just around the corner thoughts of spring and summer are close behind. It’s an exciting time of year as the seasons change and Batawa Ski Hill, 5 minutes north of Trenton, is making the best out of the last weeks of winter, last meters of snow and the first days of springs by mixing seasonal activities into a week of fun during March Break.

“At one time, March Break at the ski hill had a lot to do with luck, if the weather was cold and lots of natural snowfall came down in January and February, Batawa might have been lucky enough to have couple of ski runs with a solid snow-base to ski on,” says Manager Steve Spiessman. “Things are much different now.”
